Three Ways to Simplify Your Giving

A donor-advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you flexibility and control of how often a gift is granted to Wounded Warrior Project. You can recommend a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift. Join the millions of Americans already using DAFs to maximize their charitable impact.

Recommend a Grant from Your DAF

You can recommend a gift to WWP by contacting your fund administrator, or by making a grant recommendation online.

Sustain Impact with Recurring Grants

You can set up recurring grants to help sustain life-changing WWP programs. You can do this online or by contacting your fund administrator and choosing your grant frequency.

Leave a Legacy

You can help continue the mission of WWP after your lifetime by naming WWP as the beneficiary of your DAF. Simply contact your fund administrator to do so.

DAFs are tax-efficient giving accounts and offer many of the same benefits as other philanthropic giving options. Some of these benefits may include:

  • Simplicity: The donor-advised fund sponsor handles all record-keeping, disbursements and tax receipts.

  • Flexibility: The timing of your tax deduction can be separate from your charitable decision-making.

  • Tax-efficiency: Contributions are tax-deductible, and any investment growth in the DAF is tax-free. It is also easy to donate long-term appreciated securities, eliminating capital gains taxes.

  • Family legacy: A DAF is a powerful way to build or continue a tradition of family philanthropy.

To ensure your gift is properly acknowledged, please be sure to include your name and the fund name, as well as your contact information, when making the gift. If you prefer to mail your gift, you may also email us directly at  stewardship@woundedwarriorproject.org with details regarding it. Any advance notification will help us prepare to acknowledge your gift in a timely manner.

Not only is initiating your grant on this page the fastest and easiest way for you to give, but it also:

  • Makes WWP immediately aware that your gift was initiated
  • Helps avoid lost checks, mailing delays or gifts accidentally being submitted to the wrong organization
  • Saves our staff time and money tracking your gift

Unlike private family foundations, which are required by law to make annual distributions, donor-advised funds currently do not have federally imposed minimum payout requirements. This offers flexibility for donors to make grants to charities at their own pace.

Some sponsoring organizations may have their guidelines, such as minimum grant amounts, or charge a small percentage fee to manage your fund. However, these fees are typically modest compared to your donation's impact in supporting the causes you care about. We recommend checking with your sponsoring organization for specific details on its policies and fees.
